Sustainability
Our approach to sustainability means ensuring long-term success for future generations on our farm whilst positively contributing towards our people, our economy and our planet.
With our regenerative approach to farming, the animals are regularly rotated through paddocks, ensuring they have constant natural grass forage. The animals play their role too, tiling up the earth and adding their own manure back into the soil. This holistic, ethical and sustainable approach to farming, means that you can have confidence in the pigs and eggs that you buy.

How we farm
Regular Paddock Rotation
Our regenerative and sustainable approach to farming means that the animals are regularly rotated through paddocks ensuring they have constant natural grass forage. The animals play their role, tiling up the earth and adding manure back into the soil.
Let the Land Rest
This rotational grazing is simply better for the land and better for the health of the animals. Allowing the land to rest means that our soils are kept in optimal condition, and this gives our hens constant access to fresh, bio-diverse and nutrient rich-grasses.
A Natural Life
The animals have a peaceful and natural life, roaming and digging on the property. Free to roam outside enjoying the fresh air, exercise and sunshine. After a day roaming free in the paddocks our hens return to their mobile hen houses to roost safely.
“reducing land fill is a key priority.”
That's why our current retail packaging is not only made from 100% recycled material, they are also 100% recyclable. Our packaging aligns with our sustainability approach.
Earth friendly packaging
100% Recycled Plastic
All our retail egg cartons are CLEAR PLASTIC produced using 100% recycled post consumer material (plastic water bottles) and are 100% recyclable; any waste from production is reused in the process immediately, with zero waste or new material added. .
Reduced Egg Breakage
The clear 100% recycled plastic egg cartons keep our eggs safe from breakages which helps minimise food waste, which is a major issue in the discussion about environmental impact of our daily life.
See the Eggs
Our clear recycled packaging allows customers to see the eggs and check if any are broken without needing to open the carton and touch the eggs.
'What exactly is rPET?'
The technical anwer is: recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate. This translated means packaging that is produced using 100% recycled post consumer material (things like your peanut butter container, water bottles - chances are, most plastic containers in your house are made of this common plastic) and they are 100% recyclable - they get a second life!
Plastic compared with Pulp
Lowest Carbon Footprint
A detailed peer reviewed Life cycle assessment (LCA) study confirms that egg packs made of 100 % recycled PET (rPET) show the lowest carbon footprint and highest resource efficiency of all relevant egg packs currently used on the market.
Why 100% rPET is better?
This is possible because 100% recycled PET egg packs combine two important aspects: 100 % recycled raw material AND low energy demand in processing (no water evaporation needed like for pulp egg packs)
This is why KC Ridge pastured free-range eggs are in clear recycled egg cartons. Read more about closed-loop recycling >
